Actually, it’s the other way around: work comes first than my domestic chores. I’m very tidy and I have a cleaning lady every week. As I tend to forget to eat when I’m really busy with work, you can imagine what happens with my remaining “duties”. I was married twice and I have 3 children but I have been living alone for a long time now. I do enjoy living alone: I love my own space, my job, my freedom and the company of my dog… | | | Ana Vozone Local time: 19:02 Member (2010) English to Portuguese + ...

I get up very, very early in the morning to keep track of my household duties. The house here is very big.

In addition to looking after my own place, which has a spacious garden requiring upkeep, I'm also looking after my friends house while he is working abroad until November and December - which mainly consists of feeding and watering the livestock, but still takes at least an hour or two out of my day. However, if push comes to shove and I have urgent deadlines, everything else is secondary. | | | For me it should be ... | Sep 27, 2020 |

Used to be true for me, but I came across a productivity tool that's helped me immensely. I'm sure that, as freelancers, most everyone here will have heard about the Pomodoro system. I came across it earlier this year and I'm just so much more productive now. It's a pretty simple system: you focus on your work for 25 minutes (that means no Facebook, no Reddit, work!), and take a 5 minute break. Rinse and repeat. I use the to stretch my legs, rest my eyes and do some quick chores. It's so simple,... See more Used to be true for me, but I came across a productivity tool that's helped me immensely. My work interferes with my housework ... Today at least I have no jobs, so I'm going to catch up on the ironing. Yesterday I even had time to make a cake. | | | In My Case,.. | Sep 27, 2020 |
...work comes first, because without it, maintaining my household would be something that would be more difficult to achieve. After, all, I have to pay housecleaners, lawncare workers, and handymen from time to time.

One leaves all that to the staff.
Like Teresa, my work fills my life and I have little time left to take care of the house. I have hired house helpers for more years than I care to admit. Even so, I always feel a nagging sense of guilt over household tasks that I should be taking care of.

Sometimes they do interfere, but most of the time, I plan it so I can do both things without interference. Aa a matter of fact, household duties sometimes are a type of break I take from work. | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 19:02 Member (2008) Italian to English
