L’alliage 800 présente par contre un coefficient de dilatation plus élevé, dont la principale conséquence est un risque plus important de dédudgeonnage des tubes périphériques
As far as I am aware, 'dudgeonnage' is 'expansion', so is dedudgeonnage shrinkage? Can't find it anywhere...

coming loose
I think "dudgeonnage" refers to a sort of "shrink fitting" of tubes into manifolds. What we are probably talking about here is not so much the phenomenon of "shrinkage" but rather the effect differing thermal expansion coefficients have in causing the connection to become loose.
Now, how would you translate "désolidarisation"?

Le dudgeonnage mécanique du bouchon est l'opération qui rattrape le jeu initial entre bouchon et plaque tubu- laire et qui écrase ce dernier contre la plaque pour le maintenir en place

Looks as if "dudgeonnage", in this context at least, is "swaging" in English. I'll let you Google it if you need more.
For "dédudgeonnage", you might get away with "unswaging". "Unswaged" gets quite a few ghits, but I think it generally means "not yet swaged", as opposed to "deswaged" (no ghits) or "previously swaged, but no longer a tight fit".

Re désolidarisation, I'd try 'separation' |
Christian, what do you mean exactly? |

Comment: "Yes, I do agree that this comes the closest to what they seem to be describing. Better than shrinkage, which isn't quite right here. Thanks alot! "

probablement shrinkage selon le procédé, mais ce doit être du jargon d'entreprise..
le mieux c'est de demander si vous avez un contact technique client...

unrolling
Having said I couldn't find this term, I then came across it in the AFNOR nuclear glossary. As well as expansion, it also gives "rolling" with specific reference to tubes. I wonder therefore whether dédududgeonnage could be unrolling, i.e. as the alloy expands, the tubes start to unroll.
Just a thought...

Note from asker:
Yes Claire, I too have the AFNOR glossary definition for dudgeonnage. But I note that dedudgeonnage does not appear. Rolling is not applicable in this particular context. |

impairs the rolling interference fit
"coming loose" as suggested would turn into a real disaster. When fitting a tube into a hole in a tube plate (e.g. when manufacturing a tube exchanger) you don't want to weld it into the tube plate because the welding arc heat input will modify the metallographic intercrystalline structure of the tube/plate metal (which is a real mess with a nuclear steam generator). Therefore, the tube is fitted into the plate and secured in position therein by a mechanical "rolling" process taking place from INSIDE the tube whose wall will consequently expand against the tube plate internal dia.!!! dudgeon is also known as "tube expander" (the "dudgeoning tool" itself)...

wiki is sometimes weaky
