1.1.1 Combined High and Intermediate Pressure Section
The HP-IP casing has a horizontally split design with two shells. The main steam enters the HP inner casing via one inlet connection. Steam entering into the HP inner casing is conducted into the circle duct, which are casted in the inner casing. The HP steam flows in direction towards the front bearing pedestal. The inlet connection is sealed in the inlet section of the circle duct with special sealing rings.
The IP steam enters the IP inner casing via four inlet connections in the lower and in the upper halve of the outer casings. Steam entering into the IP inner casing is conducted into the circular ducts. The IP steam flows in direction towards the LP casing. The inlet connections are sealed in the inner casing in a similar way as the live steam inlet into the HP section of turbine.
The turbine casings are divided by a horizontal plane into the upper and lower halves.

The turbine casings are divided by a horizontal plane into the upper and lower halves. Stud bolts made from temperature resistant alloy steel are used to locate and secure the two halves. The outer casing is provided with narrow and high flanges, which provides small differences in the thickness of the casing walls and flanges, thereby reducing the danger of casing deformation. The flange heating is not required. The outer casing is mounted over lugs in the horizontal plane on the bearing pedestals. Mounting in the horizontal plane ensures that any expansion due to thermal effects has a neutral effect and the rotor and stator alignment in the hot and cold conditions are the same.
The inner casings (HP and IP) are mounted in the horizontal plane of the outer casing on the lugs. The centering in axial direction is provided by guide pins in the front and the rear section of the casings. The position of the inner casings in axial direction is adjusted and secured with a guide near the steam inlets.
