French term
secours
French to English
Tech/Engineering
IT (Information Technology)
This is again from a software license:
" Il concède des licences temporaires du Logiciel dans les cas suivants :
- exercice de secours des traitements effectués sur un ordinateur à l'aide d'un autre ordinateur,
- secours d'un ordinateur rendu indisponible pendant une durée significative par un incident technique, panne ou sinistre"
I'm looking for the translation in both of these sentences. I thought of data retrieval but I'm not sure.
thanks

recovery
IMO, if the failure has already happened, it's too late for backup... It's time to recover the data (or software or whatever) from the computer that failed.

thanks , happens to me all the time .I edited my comment on your answer cause I think " backup " doesn't fit in this kind of " secours"

failover
Backup in this meaning is misleading, this is a jargon wording for a spare system, the most common meaning of backup is "sauvegarde", ie copy of the data to an other medium, which is not what is meant here.
