In a sense martini is right, because that's what a standby generator does, and half of the Italian is redundant.
But if you want to stay closer to the source, I'd say 'install a standby generator, which switches on automatically in the event of a power failure'.
There's no need to repeat 'generator' as the Italian repeats 'gruppo'.
