Junior doctors
Junior doctors are doctors in training, usually in hospital or in general practice. They will have completed medical school and obtained registration with the GMC, but will not yet be trained to a level which allows them to work as a consultant, GP or staff and associate specialist.
Senior doctors
The terms 'senior' and 'junior' in the medical profession indicate whether or not the doctor concerned is still in training. Senior doctors have many titles. The two most familiar are consultant and GP. There are others, however, including: staff doctors, specialty doctor, associate specialist, trust doctor, hospital practitioner, clinical assistant and clinical medical officer. These other titles are often grouped together and called staff and associate specialists ('SAS' doctors).

Dinap Dec 4, 2011:

Davor Ivic Dec 4, 2011:

junior vs. senior physicians

I think you should keep it under the two umbrella terms;
junior physicians include interns (stazisti) and residents(specializanti)
senior physicians could also be called "attendings" ( but not 'supervising service, it is not idiomatic)

intern and supervising service
