French to English Science Geography PPT presentation on ground and surface water contamination with a chemical pesticide

Am I right in thinking they are referring to the height of the sides of the water table hole, i.e. the depth of the water table? This doesn't sound too scientific to my ear - any suggestions? Many thanks
