or a variation.

Nothing to do with squares, 'case' is just a term used in some French -speaking parts of the world to mean house/home, or as is the case (hi hi) here it means a solid building of concrete and/or bricks.

see http://www.bdlp.org/default.asp for some help.

Mmm, it's probably a building with only one or a couple of rooms, which may or may not be permanently staffed, depending on health worker availability in the area.
Note from asker:
Ha! I was just going to close this, because I found 'health house" in a "WHO" report, but I thought it might mean square not in the sense of the geometric form but in the sense of a compound as in 'town square.' So you will get the points when I am allowed to give them to you. Thank you!
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jean-Louis S. : A health center is generally at the district level whereas the 'case de santé' is the most rudimentary level of health care at the village level.

I agree that it's at a rudimentary level. Silvia can always qualify by pre-fixing 'local' 'rural' 'village' etc etc.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I've given you the points because in your discussion, you clearly included the possibility of a small building, house or hut or whatever, first."

Note from asker:
Thank you also for your input. I almost closed the question because I had found 'health house' in a WHO document. You will note that my glossary entry includes 'hut' as well as 'house.' And that is also what my translation term is... house (hut).
