French term

en foulée

French to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
"Angioplastie en foulée"

I am pretty sure that this is an angioplasty immediately following a cardiac test, is there a specific term used in English?

FR to UK EN.

These are medical notes without much context (including what immediately preceded the angioplasty).

Jut a note: In Frnch one says "dans la foulée" which means "immediately after something"
Joshua Wolfe (asker) Jan 21, 2012:
I don't have a full sentence, just the phrase "Angipolastie en foulée 3 segements et plus #1042"
Drmanu49 Jan 21, 2012:
Do you have the complete sentence?
I suggested "following coronography" which is a possibility. You could also use "Immediate angioplasty" or "subsequent angioplasty".
Joshua Wolfe (asker) Jan 21, 2012:
Use in apposition @Drmanu49: How do I convey the entire phrase "angioplastie en foulée"? I can't say "Immediately after angioplasty" because the angioplasty was, in fact, immediately after something else, which is unspecified.

The combination of diagnostic coronary
angiography and coronary angioplasty
(PTCA) has numerous names. It has been
referred to as ad hoc, follow-on, one-time,
one-stage, single-stage, single session, diagnostic
session, stop and go, or dessert PTCA.
"PTCA at first sight" is the term coined for
PTCA performed after the first diagnostic
coronary angiogram.1 I propose to use the
term "ad hoc PTCA" in this paper.

http://stage.acc.org/qualityandscience/clinical/guidelines/p...
Ad hoc coronary intervention is PCI performed at the same time as diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Since the last revision of these Guidelines there has been an increase in ad hoc interventions with reported incidence ranging from 52 to 83% (566-568). During the past several years, in an effort to reduce hospital length of stay and potentially reduce costs, PCI is increasingly being performed immediately following the diagnostic coronary angiographic procedure (569). The indications for diagnostic catheterization are discussed in the ACC/SCA&I Expert Consensus Document on Catheterization Laboratory Standards (184) (Table 33).

Ad hoc angioplasty has several inherent advantages. It expedites patient care, avoids a second invasive procedure with its associated risks and recognized morbidity, reduces total X-ray exposure and, therefore, cost. However, “ad hoc ” intervention is associated with a higher procedural contrast use and may preclude adequate pretreatment with aspirin or other oral antiplatelet agents.

Either ad hoc or follow-on is fine for the UK.
