French term

le pou réel

French to English Other Slang
Is this sometimes used as the equivalent of the lowdown or real goods or inside info - it's the only logical translation of this expression, given the context in which it's being used

Discussion

Dr Sue Levy (X) May 3, 2006:
pou = louse not flea :-)
Sue Crocker (asker) May 3, 2006:
I think it is le pouls réel - the document is full of grammar and spelling mistakes - so it's a spelling error I guess - the medical option doesn't make any sense and fleas make even less sense - Thanks
PFB (X) May 3, 2006:
Do you mean "le pouls réel"? "Prendre le pouls" does mean, figuratively, to look for information on / to feel the pulse of something - apart from the obvious medical meaning.
Francis MARC May 3, 2006:
???? Context please - "pouls réel" ?

French term (edited): le pouls réel
Selected

in tune with / the reality / sound out / the real pulse

Depending on how "pouls réel" appears in the sentence.

in tune with / the reality / sound out

You can even use the more literal translation of "the real pulse". It really depends on the text.

You haven't given much context, but I'm guessing that whatever it is, the author don't like it much :-)

Anyway, dunno if you're dealing with a transcription & thus a typo, or some kind of pun, but this option struck me as a possible lead for you.
