Discussion
I don't know if you are fmailiar with the GDT (granddictionnaire.com) but it's a useful online source for ordinary technical terminology and even some quite specialized technical terminology. This term is certainy there and in most decent dictionaries too. Just a hint and handy to know about, particularly if you need your answer quickly. Bonne journée!
"Sous le vent" and "au vent" are very basic terms in this field.
