Spanish term

4+4

Spanish to English Other Paper / Paper Manufacturing
Hi all,

I have come across this while translating a budget for project, in which company A will design advertising material for company B (such as leaflets, posters, etc.):

- Diseño de tres folletos
- 8 hojas A4 dobladas (16 caras)
- Portada 4+4, 200gr.
- Interior 2+2, 150gr.

Can anyone explain what '4+4' refers to, and, for that matter, '2+2'?

Kind regards,

Jack

Four over four

It stands for printing in full color the front and the back of a paper, in this case the cover. 2 + 2 stands for printing in two colors, usually black and one color more. It's less used, so colours should be specified.

agree Charles Davis : And as the full version "four over four" implies, it is commonly written "4/4" in English.

Thank you. You're right about the way it's written. It's usually 4/4 in Spanish too
agree teju : Does the first number mean one thing and the second another? If 4/4 is printed on both sides, is 2/2 printed on one side?

thank you! 2/2 means printed on both sides. The first number stands for the front side, the second for the back side and the value of the number represents the number of colors applied to that page. 2/0 - front side printed in two colors, back side blank
