Das dargstellte Bild zeigt einen Teil (Streuniere) einer Auswertung eines Streuversuchs.
Dieser gibt die Verteilung des Düngers grafisch wieder.

Discussion

sdvplatt (asker) Oct 12, 2012:
I went for spreading pattern.
The shape of the pattern wasn't important here.
Waiting for feedback from the client..
Johannes Gleim Oct 12, 2012:
I am still curious to know what term had been used.
pj-ffm Oct 9, 2012:
I probably wouldn't get hung up describing the shape of the distribution pattern as that starts sounding rather clumsy. I can imagine they'd use "Streukreis" if it were circular rather then semi-circular...
pj-ffm Oct 9, 2012:
kidney-shaped distribution pattern could work then.
sdvplatt (asker) Oct 9, 2012:
@pj-ffm - yes it relates to a spread(ing) pattern. The spreader has a disc.
Here is an image: http://snag.gy/6EBzP.jpg
Seems to concur, though the German is perhaps a little clumsy.
Steffen Walter Oct 9, 2012:
@ pj-ffm ... exactly what I was thinking.
Steffen Walter Oct 9, 2012:
pj-ffm Oct 9, 2012:
Spreading/distribution pattern Do you have the picture referred to? If so, can you identify what this is visually?

Presumably the spreader is for solid fertiliser pellets that uses a centrifugal rotary/spinning disk (rather than a drop spreader).

If so, I'm thinking it could be referring to a snapshot of the basic spreading pattern on the ground, e.g. after one cycle of the spreader, which could be kidney shaped.
Johannes Gleim Oct 9, 2012:
sdvplatt (asker) Oct 9, 2012:
yes its true. Was missing from the Source, but would be the logical choice.
Corrected sentence:
(auswirkt?)

distribution pattern

As described in my discussion entry.

The (perhaps kidney-shaped) distribution pattern made by the fertiliser.

Picture that shows such a kidney-like overlapping distribution pattern from a centrifugal double-disk spreader:

I guess you could therefore simply say "kidney-shaped distribution pattern".
Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : Yes. I was thinking of "kidney-shaped spreading pattern".

Yes, "spreading pattern" would work fine too.

dispersal pattern

Sorry for posting more than once, but this would be another option that seems commonly used when describing spreader characteristics (and sounds even better than "distribution pattern" to my ears...)
Peer comment(s):

neutral Steffen Walter : You could have added this suggestion to your first answer, though.

I'm not sure if there is a site policy on this, but I nomally think it better if answers are posted separately rather than as multiple suggestions in one post, especially when searching for a term that has already been answered, but isn't the main answer.
neutral Johannes Gleim : KudoZ discourage from posting several answers. If I find a better proposal, impossible to add to the former proposal, I hide the first and post then again. What is your preferred proposal?

OK. I have done that in the past if I think a suggestion was incorrect, but in this case I think both could work fine. I'll bear in mind for the future.

German term (edited): Streuniere

reniform or kidney-shaped pattern

These species belong to the Taxodiaceae. As in Sequoia, Sequoiadendron and Metasequoia, the vascular strands supplying the scale and bract in Nephrostrobus are about equal. These vascular strands are arranged in a reniform pattern resembling that found in Metasequoia, but the orientation differs by 180 degrees.

The intercondyloid fossa is deeply excavated in front, to become suddenly much shallower behind as well as somewhat narrower. Upon lateral view it will be seen that the general outline of either of the condyles is more circular than we usually find it in others of the Class, where a reniform pattern prevails. http://www.archive.org/stream/proceedingsamer00socigoog/proc...

A dispenser for an aqueous sialogogue for the mouth comprises: a) a reservoir for the aqueous sialogogue solution; b) passage means leading from the reservoir to a spray head; and c) a plurality of orifices in the spray head, whereby actuating the spray head causes a plurality of streams to be directed to those regions of the mouth most dry in a reniform pattern.

Plant clusters in flower beds. Even small groups of bulbs provide impressive spot color. Eleanor Christensen, of West Shore Acres Bulb Farm in Washington, recommends planting bulbs in a kidney-shaped pattern

An auxiliary feed device is provided above the pickup drum and is angularly oscillatable, while being provided with independently elastically suspended pushers, for feeding the crop material into the trough in which a transverse-feed mechanism, e.g. a fork describing a kidney-shaped pattern of motion advances the crop material into the lateral opening of the press channel.

Peer comment(s):

neutral pj-ffm : Whilst very descriptive of the form, I think you still need "distribution", "spreading" or "dispersal" before "pattern" so that pattern relates to something. (And as mentioned, I'm not convinced the kidney shape is an important thing to stress.)

No, this was not asked. It goes without saying. (Same as you did)
