Spanish term
la chispa del filosofar
Spanish to English
Other
Philosophy
Academic
Context:
De hecho, la chispa del filosofar se remonta al primer asombro por lo que hay, y dicho maravillarse se convierte en regulador existencial y espiritual de la persona.
More context available if needed. Same academic article on ageing, longevity, death, existence, etc.
"the spark of philosophising" is what was given to me. I think it can be improved? And assume it's along the lines of a spark being the starting point that kindles a theoretical flame, but all my thoughts are long-winded. Except for "philosophical spark" which I think may lose something?
All thoughts welcome. :-)

the spark of philosophy
I agree that "the spark of philosophising" doesn't sound right.
The “spark of philosophy” cannot happen without sensitivity to the full range of ideological positions.

These are the ones who catch the spark of philosophy.

Comment: "I found this a hard decision as I was very tempted by impulse to... In the end I went with this because the rest of the text sticks to lots of philosophical terms and it also appears in 3 languages on the website. Thank you all so much."

the impulse to philosophize
In light of the context, especially "se remonta al primer asombro por lo que hay", this could be suitable. It's talking about that first sense of wonder that leads to more complex and theoretical philosophizing.
Example sentence:
What impulses lead us to ask philosophical questions and pursue philosophical enquiry?

The philosophical muse
In fact, the philosophical muse harks back to the first to wonder at what is out there, and this wonder becomes a person's existential and spiritual raison d'être.

the ignition to philosophize
I offer this as an alternative to the already good suggestions provided before.
I take "ignition" to be a translation of chispa. Also, ignition carries the connotation that the passion of philosophy has been ignited in someone. This harkens back to the origins of philosophy.
One disadvantage of ignition is that it brings up an automotive reference, but perhaps that may be overcome. It also could potentially be an advantage depending on how you look at it. I see it as literally meaning "the fuel to philosophize." Anyway, I hope this is helpful.
