pork luncheon meat

I think that's it, pork luncheon meat would be the best approximation. It's the cheapest meat product available, I would think twice about calling it a salami(!). "Parizer" doesn't exist in the UK with this name.

True. Boloney is used in the US only. I wouldn't touch either of them with a barge pole to be honest!

PARIZER SAUSAGE

Parizer je barena kobasica od fino isitnjenog mesa, najčešće svinjskog, ali ima i proizvođačkih receptura sa drugim vrstama mesa, u zavisnosti od proizvođača. S obzirom na to da je 'parizer' naziv kobasice, moj je predlog da na engleskom ostane u nazivu reč 'parizer'.

neutral Mira Stepanovic : Na sajtu koji ste naveli: http://www.jovanfoods.co.uk/balkan.html - izgleda da Jovan potiče sa ovih prostora a da su nazivi ostavljenji da bi zvučali "egzotično"; sumnjam da bilo koji Englez zna šta je "parizer", taj se naziv ne može naći u rečnicima :-)

Kriterijum koji sam odabrala je NAZIV proizvoda (u ovom slučaju - parizer ili pariska kobasica), a obično se imena ne prevode. Parizer je komercijalni naziv kobasice tj salame. Na onom drugom linku je primer iz Mađarske.
disagree dkalinic : Kolegice, niste u pravu da se nazivi ne prevode. Prevode se svi nazivi za koje postoji ekvivalent u stranom jeziku. U ovom slučaju je to boloney sausage odn. Bologna sausage.

Pariška kobasica ne stiže iz Pariza!
Čak ni dobro informirani gastro-stručnjaci ne znaju da popularni «parizer» ima inačicu u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama. Naime, u nekim se područjima te zemlje gotovo tri stoljeća kod kuće proizvodi kobasica slična tom popularnom i često osporavanom mesnom proizvodu.

Sirovina za tu mesnu delikatesu najfinije je mljeveno crveno goveđe i svinjsko meso. Uvijek mu se primiješa i malo začina pa je zbog izuzetno blagog okusa i lake probavljivosti (termičke predobrade) omiljeni narezak na jelovniku djece i odraslih. Unatoč imenu «Bologne», ta je kobasica poznata po njemačkom nazivu Fleischwurst Extrawurst. No, najbolje se vrste nazivaju Lyoner ili lyonska kobasica po francuskom gradu dok se kod nas udomaćio naziv «parizer».
