This is the description of what a "facing" is, translated from French:

http://www.coupecouture.fr/2007/03/parement_ou_parementure.h...

A facing is a piece of fabric that is sewn along the edge of a garment and folded backwards (to be invisible) or upwards (to be decorative).
It has exactly the same shape as the piece to be edged and therefore fits perfectly around the edge.
It can be made from the same fabric as the garment or from lining (if the fabric is too thick).

French: parementure
German: Besätz

Discussion

Boris Shapiro Apr 12, 2021:

@Asker: whether it is "подборт" or "обтачка" depends on the exact place/function of this 'facing'. Neck or hem facing is обтачка, while jacket front facing is подборт.

In this case, it would be very useful to see the context, but the link doesn't open. Could you provide another link?
