English term

chelating agent

GBK English to Serbian Tech/Engineering Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
Definition from Alconox, Inc.:
These are negatively charged or oxygen containing molecules that react with positively charged metal ions to form a stable complex. They have multiple locations in the molecule to react with multiple positive charges that may be present on multivalent metal ions that have more than one positive charge on them. An example of a chelating agent is EDTA, ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid. EDTA has four acetic acid groups giving it a potential for four negatively charged acetates to bond with up to four positively charged sites on metal ions with multiple positive charges, such as calcium which has two (2) positive charges associated with it.
Example sentences:
EDTA is a versatile chelating agent. It can form four or six bonds with a metal ion, and it forms chelates with both transition-metal ions and main-group ions. EDTA is frequently used in soaps and detergents, because it forms a complexes with calcium and magnesium ions. (University of Wisconsin)
HIDS shows superior performance as a chelating agent; high thermal stability, high solubility in concentrated alkaline solutions and low corrosion. (NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO.)
The extraction parameters were the type and concentration of chelating agent and the duration of extraction time. All the extractions that involved chelating agents were carried out at pH 7.0. The heavy metal extraction efficiencies of chelating agents were compared to those of HNO3, CaCl2, and deionized water. (ASCE)

Definition from own experience or research:
Helirajući agens je supstanca čiji molekuli mogu da izgrade nekoliko veza sa jednim jonom metala.
Example sentences:
Helirajuci agens za trovanje živom je: a) deferoksamin b) dimerkaprol c) EDTA d) penicilamin (www.medf.kg.ac.yu/.../test.../Test%20pit)

helatni reagens

Ref. E-S Hemijsko-tehnološki rečniki (A. Mihailidi, M. Mihailidi).
Definition from own experience or research:
Molekuli koji su negativno naelektrisani ili koji sadrže kiseonik i koji reaguju sa pozitivno naelektrisanim jonima metala formirajući stabilne komplekse.
Example sentences:
(PMF Univ. u Nišu, Hemijski fakultet)
3.4.3. Helatni (ciklični) kompleksi .......................................161 Etilendiamintetrasirćetna kiselina (EDTA) kao helatni reagens (162). Sastav rastvora EDTA u zavisnosti od vrednosti pH (164). Kompleksi EDTA sa metalima. Konstante stabilnosti metal-EDTA kompleksa (165). (Prof. M. Rajković, Poljop. fakultet, Bg)
ANALIZA SMEŠA JONA METALA Primena fluorescentne detekcije u analizi smeše Al i Mg ( 8-hidroksihinolin kao helatni reagens) (Farmaceutski fakultet, Univerzitet u Bgd)
