Definitions of "star sign" on the Web:
* sign of the zodiac: (astrology) one of 12 equal areas into which the zodiac is divided
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
* Western astrology employs the tropical zodiac which divides the ecliptic into twelve signs of equal length starting at the first point of Aries, which is defined as the point at which the ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun through the heavens) crosses the celestial equator at the spring equinox. It is important to note that these signs are completely independent of the astronomical constellations after which they were originally named and no longer bear any relationship to them.

ver la diferencia
Me parece que la diferencia radica en que star sign son los doce signos que representan los planetas, y estos doce signos componen el zodiaco.
zo·di·ac (zō'dē-ăk')
n.
Astronomy. A band of the celestial sphere extending about 8° to either side of the ecliptic that represents the path of the principal planets, the moon, and the sun.
In astrology, this band divided into 12 equal parts called signs, each 30° wide, bearing the name of a constellation for which it was originally named but with which it no longer coincides owing to the precession of the equinoxes.
A diagram or figure representing the zodiac.
A complete circuit; a circle.

Discussion
Each zodiac sign is an equal division of twelve parts of the ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun through the sky, as seen from Earth). When the sun enters a sign (where it will spend one month), that zodiac sign is the sun sign. For an indi
