French term

puits et pistolets de commande

French to English Other Computers: Hardware
I'm not sure if this is even categorized correctly as per field, but the context here is an insurance claim for damaged goods in a warehouse of a distributor of printer and computer products/goods.

"Dans le cas présent, l’assuré a la garde de matériels informatiques à destination de l’univers de
la grande distribution (puits et pistolets de commande), mais assure également un rôle de réparateur sur des produits présentant des défauts intrinsèques (systèmes de caisse-scanner, écrans…)."

Discussion

Cyril Tollari Jan 10, 2020:
@Asker 'Puits' then 'pistolets de commande'.

In this context (ie grande distribution), 'commande' has nothing to do with 'control' in my opinion. No joystick.
Timothy Rake (asker) Jan 8, 2020:
wondering outloud Could this possible refer to a joystick? Pistolet de commande = joystick? I've never heard the expression, but it seems logical. But in that case: "un puits de commande"? A console? Or am I not parsing this correctly? Is it "puits" and then "pistolets de commande"? Questions needing answers?

ink cartridges and dispensers

If the context is a printer, I'd say that the "puits" are the ink cartridges and the "pistoles" are whatever is used to get the ink onto the paper — probably the laser.

The terminology wasn't online. I wouldn't be surprised if the person who wrote the claim didn't have a strong background in mechanics or understand the specifics of printers either. Bonne chance!
Note from asker:
Jude, that begins to make sense...certainly the ink cartridges seems logical
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : I'm afraid this seems highly improbable to me!
