French term

analogue

French to English Bus/Financial General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Here is the full sentence. I get the feeling there is a word or idea missing. Am I wrong?

Le droit d’adapter l’oeuvre sous forme d’édition électronique, en particulier en cédérom, CD-I, CD-photo, Cédérom, DVD et par réseau numérique, en ligne et hors ligne, internet ou extranet, ou tout autre analogue existant ou à venir

Discussion

writeaway Oct 12, 2007:
hi-it's not a legalese term. just written French.
Michael Tovbin Oct 12, 2007:
The othe one would be "analog" exactly as you put it. This one is "analogous" or any synonym of appropriate style.
Gabrielle Bannard (asker) Oct 12, 2007:
Ok but I wanted to make sure because in other parts of this contract, they use the word "analogue" for "analog" (as in vs. "digital")... does "analogous" still apply? Is it just the nature of legalese?

or any other similar existing or future format

Hello,

analogue - similar object, idea, etc

Here, you need to it as a "format" , as that's what "cédérom, CD-I, CD-photo, Cédérom, DVD et par réseau numérique " are.

I hope this helps.

along the same lines

In this type of context "analogue" means "along the same lines". Once you understand that, you will be able to re-word it to fit.
