French term

Autoproduction

French to English Bus/Financial Government / Politics local government, transport
from a presentation talking about management structures for public transport contracts and how an EU Regulation applies to them

"autoproduction du service (régie à simple autonomie financière)". I understand the second part to mean a directly managed body with basic financial autonomy, but am not sure what sense the "autoproduction" has here. Thanks!

Discussion

Emérentienne Apr 24, 2008:
Self-sufficiency is probably not relevant here. What I understand is that the service is managed internally, directly. Self-management is closer.

David BUICK (asker) Apr 24, 2008:
thanks: do you have a link for use in this context? I don't think a transport body is really self-sufficient, is it?
Emérentienne Apr 24, 2008:
autonomy, self-sufficiency

direct management

I'm not sure this is quite the same as Claire's answer. I think it means the authority runs the service itself rather than contracting it out.

At present there are 13 community transport schemes in Essex. The County Council. has direct management of four of these schemes

territoire relevant de l'autorité compétente;

It being the first of these.

Note from asker:
Thanks - but I think I'll keep "direct management" for the explanation of "régie".
