Those are the terms we usually use in the U.S. though I think "aliens" is a little harsh.

agree Charlie Bavington : - and I've always thought use of "aliens" by our US cousins a bit unusual as well !! Altho' it's about the US, if the target is UK readers (or non EMT), then illegal immigrants *might* be safer.

illegal immigrant

this term is used in France with regards to illegal immigrants 'without papers', i.e. not having the official papers granting them asylum.

\"Undocumented\" (alien or immigrant) is the politically correct term in the U.S. It is argued that no person is \"illegal.\"

\"Alien\" or \"non-citizen\" -- neither term sounds pleasant, but \"alien\" is the legally-correct term.
