French term

la voilure

I know the word 'la voilure' refers to aircraft's wings. But I do not like the way I translated it :-
XX proceeds with its reorganisation and considers decreasing even more the wings in Europe.
[As a footnote I wrote that 'the wings' refers to aircrafts wings & that the company has a subsidiary which manufactures metallurgy etc for aircrafts].

reduce its span (its scope...)

suite à votre note: ma proposition semble donc correspondre au sens de votre texte if the co. is cutting down its size, with job cuts and other restructuring. (You can probably find a better way to say it English, now that you have the meaning)

I offered "span" (ref. to wing span) to keep the analogy, but scope or footprint (as proposed by comments below) or size or anything equivalent would be fine if you prefer

PS: I really don't think this is just about "reducing their production of aircraft wings" in this case.

la voilure is aerofoil (UK) or airfoil (US) in aviation BUT

Declined
voilure tournante is: rotary wing and voilure fixe is: fixed aircraft wing.

Further reducing/decreasing aerofoil operations in Europe or simply European aerofoil operations.

I am using my aviation glossaries and the double volume Harrap's.
