French term

ainsi que nous y incitent

Thank you tatyana.
Mercedes Claire Gilliom Nov 18, 2014:
seems like an atypical use of "ainsi que," so I think you can take a little more liberty with the syntax. If I understand the thrust of the sentence, recent technologies are inciting us to consider/understand nature as an intrinsically moral phenomenon, and human nature as arising from human artifice (though my Hume is rusty). I'd go with a rephrasing of what you have already, Tatyana, just make it more natural in English: "which ... are prompting us to do" or even something like "impelled by recent developments in..."
tatyana000 (asker) Nov 18, 2014:
The sentence I have is rather clunky, and when I reread the it, I started doubting whether it actually coveys the author's meaning: as the recent developments in ... are prompting us to do.

Or perhaps as we are led to believe (which perhaps conveys the notion of "inciter" better).

neutral writeaway : forced? how does that fit in with the context?

maybe impelled is too strong; 'prompted by' perhaps
neutral B D Finch : It is, indeed, too strong.

as recent developments would imply

nothing "atypical" with this use of "ainsi que".
