Japanese term

ユーモー・ホップレス

Japanese to English Art/Literary Names (personal, company)
This is apparently the name of a once well-known art collector who donated to the Brisith Museum. Possibly British, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century. The first name doesn't sound like any name I can think of (Is Humour a name?). Surname could be Hopples, Hopless, Hopeless...

The author is deceased.

Any useful ideas or leads appreciated.

I presume this is the answer, though I'm not sure why it's split in two
Note from asker:
Brilliant. Thanks. Elsewhere the author just uses ホップレス, so perhaps he only heard the name and never saw it written.
