Spanish to English Marketing Food & Drink Type of meat?
From a supermarket price list:

Lomo **aguja** ternera - 6,99€/kg.
and
Chuletas de **aguja** - 3,89€/kg.

Both fall under the meat section, in the carnicería, so I don't think this can be a type of fish or bird, as suggested by Wikipedia. Does anyone have any idea what these are???? Any ideas/leads very welcome. No more context I'm afraid, it's just a list of prices.

Many thanks for the link, Anne, and many thanks to everyone for their help. I think I'm going to go with "chuck chops" for the second use of this term, aguja, but does anyone have any good suggestions for the first use, Lomo aguja ternera? I'm not sure how to combine the ideas of lomo (if I translate it as loin or back) with aguja (if i translate it as chuck or shoulder or neck) and ternera (veal). Is there a simpler, shorter answer out there?

Sorry, I meant that the text isn't leaving Spain. It's from a Spanish supermarket chain, based in Andalusia I believe, and the translation will be used in their stores, here in Spain or given to English speaking customers living or visiting Spain.

Yes, the text is from Spain and is for a Spanish market.

This must be from Spain (CONTEXT), but one thing that is notable is that the nomenclature for cuts of meat is quite variable from one country to another and even within countries. Also the destination (CONTEXT) is unknown.

Para tu "lomo aguja de ternera" te sugeriría "chuck boneless beef meat/steak", tal como sale en el penúltimo enlace que te puse.

Hi,

'aguja' is the same as 'agulha' in Brazil, which is a common/inexpensive cut of meat found in a supermarket (I buy it sometimes :)

It's the shoulder joint:
junction point of the shoulder blades of animals.

I believe also that this area is called the 'chuck' (in the UK the 'chuck' or the 'blade'), but I can't be sure if that's a good translation for 'aguja'.
