Dear All,
Currently, I'm using Office 2003. Yesterday, I tried to update it to 2007, but failed. The case is as below.
1. Install all windows updates from Microsoft Update center
2. Download the Office 2007 compatibility pack
3. Install the pack, it prompts "Installation Completed"
4. Try to open a file in PPT 2007,but it failed. It prompts "The converter failed to save the file".

Hi Pawel Skalinski,
I like office 2003 too. But the client sent the file in PPT 2007 and ask me to install the compatibility pack. I just could not open PPT 2007 by PPT 2003.
It's painful,actually.

Installing Compatibility Pack is not updating or upgrading your Office; it should "just" enable you to open MSO 2007 files in MSO 2003.
Try to uninstall/reinstall the Compatibility Pack to see if it helps. Also, first using the Pack, be careful to firtst open the MSO application and only then the file from it - otherwise (simply double-clicking a .....x file in Explorer) your PC might attempt to upgrade MSO to 2007 automatically.

Dear All,
I've tried to uninstall/reinstall the Compatibility Pack several times, but it still doesn't work. I could find "Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system" in the Control Panel. But when I try to open PPT 2007, it prompts up " No file converter program for this file type is installed".
I'm collapsed.

As a quick fix you could kindly ask the Client to send you the file saved in PPT 2003 format so you can do the work and then deal with the Comp Pack later.
