Bio
Over the last six years I have worked as a short-term translator, terminologist, editor and proofreader for several international organizations, namely the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In such capacities, I was able to gain valuable experience in document research, translation, editing, proofreading and terminology databases management. Being constantly required to work under strict deadlines, I have also sharpened my analytical, time management and team work skills.

During my tenure as a terminologist, I have been mainly responsible for providing translators with all references, terminology and documentation necessary for accurate translation of documents, consulting terminology databases, resolutions, reports and other flagship publications and retrieving documents from the United Nations Official Document System (ODS) in order to identify technical/specialized and other relevant terms and titles with a view to assist translators and revisers in their daily work. Furthermore, I was responsible for providing English and Spanish versions of titles of organs, meetings, treaties, reports and publications of the United Nations, specialized agencies and other international organizations towards the elaboration of bilingual glossaries.

My first real exposure to linguistics and document production came at the time when I was working as Desktop Publishing Assistant and, later on, as Editorial Assistant. In these positions, I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of United Nations publications on issues central to the work of the Organization. This helped me gain a full understanding of the overall chain of conference documents production and management. Additionally, my subsequent experience as a translator and terminologist helped me acquire a sound knowledge of terminology management, and further developed my ability to analyze concepts, synthesize data, carry out linguistic research and standardize terminology, all while sharpening my language skills.

I am fully proficient in Spanish and English and have a good knowledge of French. In addition, I have experience working with CAT and desktop publishing tools and multilingual databases, and have an excellent command of Microsoft Office programs.
