No need for Trados? May 9, 2012

No need for anything but Google Translate.
Garbage in (price), garbage out (quality).

What a fun? May 9, 2012

I think he has misunderstanding and doesn't live in the world of translation.

So you say... May 9, 2012

Kindergarten kids should be content with garbage quality translation (is that what you imply?). Poor young generation...

Me too May 9, 2012

I received that one too. Perhaps he should take the next logical step and actually charge translators for doing the work. He could charge a cent a word for middling feedback and a couple of cents for glowing.
On second thoughts, maybe I shouldn't submit this post. He may read it and try it. If you do, H*******, I want a cut of your ill-gotten gains!

what for??? May 9, 2012

I cannot understand why people have to post each low priced offer in the forum.... honestly...

It is a free market - if you don't like it - don't take it. There is no law against such low rates.

I also received the offer. Just to know exactly who the person proposing such ridiculous rates was , i decided to google and discovered that he was accused of being a scammer and non-payer.

Funny... May 9, 2012

...that an alleged non-payer should propose such low rates. Why not propose high rates and get a good quality job? If he/she isn't going to pay anyway...

I understand that not all translators here are senior, experienced ones.

Some of them are just newbies having no clue at all of what their services deserve. Similarly, I had no idea of what rates should I charge to my clients when I provided my services for the first time in early 1990.

Thus, posting anything considered low rates will shed some light to translators who do not know decent rates yet.

Just as there seems to be a never ending supply of "outsourcers" trying their luck at ultra-low priced "job offers", so there is always an inflow of newcomers to the field that need to learn that such low prices are neither normal nor necessary.

That's right. That is being stupid on top of being a crook.
