Hello,

I recently had a change in the way hyperlinks appear in my Word documents. I don't remember introducing any change from my side and I tried searching the online help with no use.
The links now appear like that:
{HYPERLINK "URL"} instead of the usual underlined URL link.

Can you please guide me as how to have the regular view of hyperlinks back?
I use both Word 2003 and 2010 and I have the same problem in both of them.

In the toolbar, go to Tools > Options > View and deselect 'Field codes' in the 'Show' section

Solution, try this. May 24, 2010

1. Open Word
2. Type any link in it , e.g. www.proz.com
3. Press Alt + F9
4. Problem solved.

.. a wrong combination of keys pressed can cause this hyperlink error.

I had the same experience and had to call the Microsoft Support Center to ask how to fix my messed up hyperlink settings. Maya's suggestion is also good, but I'd go for this shortcut key whenever I encouonter the same problem as linadia.

WOW! Press Alt + F9 is really easier. Thank you so much for this hint!

P.S. Could you also tell me where to find those short keys? E.g. Hidden text in formatting marks?

Ask the "help wizard" for help with
keyboard shortcuts
from "Microsoft Word Help" in the Help menu. At least, that works with Word 2000.
