I've been using Olifant for a couple of months, and it's been really useful and simple in converting from .tmx to Wordfast formats. But today it suddently stopped working - it opens, but it stays minimised on the bottom task bar, and when I place my cursor on the task bar all I can see of Olifant is an icon of with Olifant program but with a black screen. I've tried reinstalling, but to not avail. I know that this program is based on the .net programming framework (or something...) so maybe some... See more

Any advise would be appreciated. In the meantime I still have a TM that I need to convert to Wordfast format. Is there any other way I can do this other than through Olifant? Or can anyone recommend a similar (free!) TM editor.

Convert with Wordfast

Why not just convert it with Wordfast? You simply have to select the TMX file via the main setup window in WF. WF will copy it and create a WF compatible text file.
Good luck,
John

Wordfast refuses...

Thanks for the reply John, but when I try to select the file as my TM in WF I get the message that the file is a "Trados text TM, not a Wordfast TM". The file I'm trying to "convert" is actually a .txt file already (converted by the agency) but Wordfast sees it as a "Trados text" TM. Does this make any sense? So are you saying that if I just get the .tmx file from the agency WF should automatically convert that?
Regards,
Oliver

Yes, I say it too
txt is not equal txt, be careful. But TMX is a standard, can be read with WF too.
