I use it for few years already and will continue to do so.
Almost always happy with the result. Conversion to word, excel, etc. Many source languages packs available as extensions.
You can try it for free.

From my experience Abby is the absolute worst program to OCR or to convert PDF to Word.
You'd be better off formatting via hand and charging a formatting fee.

does it by default. One very good reason to upgrade. For people short of cash, try Wondershare PDF to Word Converter (free edition). I have tried it and it's the best PDF to Word converter I have come across.

I've been using ABBYY PDF Transformer for some years now - recently upgraded to v3.0. I've found it does everything I require and is easy to learn. It's also a bit cheaper than than the same company's FineReader. I bought the cheaper one (half the price) because I couldn't get a sensible answer out of ABBYY as to the difference in functionality between the two.

I have been using ABBYY PDF Transformer for years, with excellent results. The key to success with it seems to be to specify the source formatting (text, table or images) manually, which only takes a few seconds per page, unless the document is pure text. Doing it this way does a great job on even complex formats.
