Hey everyone! I'm a translator and I want to start working in the subtitles area as well, what are good softwares for creating/translating subtitles?

Subtitle Edit is a good piece of software that can create and edit subtitles.

Before I got my hands on Adobe Premiere Pro, I used to edit subtitles using some freeware subtitle editors such as Subtitle Workshop, VSDC Free Video Editor, or Open Subtitle Editor, which even though they have limited resources they would still help regardless.
For some paid services, I highly recommend Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas, but it's up to you to decide which app is best for your use at the moment.

I can recommend using Aegisub. Simple HUD and easy to start

I used to use Ooona, then switched to Subtitle Edit about a year ago and like it a lot more. Plus it's free and Ooona is not.

Sorry to piggyback with a question - is there any free subtitling software (besides Aegisub) that works on both PC and Mac?
I really like Subtitle Edit but right now I am looking for something that will work on both.

I have the experience of using it on Linux (which is cousin to macOS). To be frankly honest, I don't like the UI/UX. Its output formats are as limited as Aegisub's, and I don't recall it having a QA tool like SE. Video playback also didn't work for some reason, although you may have a better luck on macOS in this regard.
Probably better stick with SE.
