English term

call out to / off limits

English to French Art/Literary Linguistics
Le passage parle des noms seulement adéquats pour certains produits :
"Names like Zenith and Olympus call out to be used for any product trying to be the best - but they are taken by television and camera manufacturers and are off limits. A name like snapple might sound like perfect for a new camera, but its recognition as a beverage would make owning it hard to do".

Je n'arrive pas à traduire
- "call out to be used for" (demandent à être utilisés pour?)
- off limits (ne peuvent plus être utilisés par d'autres?)
- would make owning it hard to do (mais sa reconnaissance en tant que marque de boisson serait difficile à atteindre?).

J'ai peur de faire des contre-sens ...

sont bien adaptés pour le produit/ sont déjà pris

these are such good names and everyone would love to use them

they are off-limits because they are already taken...comme je ne pourrais pas utiliser "Pampers" ou "Canon".

When a name has already become known in a different sector (author uses snapple which is a juice) - the effort required to change that image is hard. Très difficile de faire changer - de l\'approprier - to make it one\'s own.

English term (edited): call out / off limits

ne demandent qu'à / interdit

Il faut diviser ainsi:

Names like Zenith[...] / call out / to be used / [as a brand name]

To call out: crier, appeler

Des mots comme "zénith" ne demandent qu'à se fait utiliser comme marques...

Et, pour off-limits, il s'agit tout simplement de "interdit".
Une région en dehors des limites permises est nécessairement interdite.
