French term

bdc

French to English Medical Medical (general)
This is still in the medical certificate. It says:
"Au coeur, les BDC sont audibles, rythme régulier synchrone au pouls radial avec une fréquence de 82 bts/min..."

I can only think of "battements de coeur", but that would be a bit redundant with "au coeur".

cela me parait logique tant pis pour les répétitions en médecine actuellement plus que jamais on répète pour couvrir toute éventualité après un eptit tour sur la toile je constate que l'on emploie beaucoup BDC foetaux ce qui confirme ma traduction
Bonsoir

heart sounds and murmurs

It seems that the English actually play it safe and use both terms.
About 5,900 G-hits for the phrase. Unfortunately, only one HSAM. :-)

heart murmur

A heart murmur is a noise that the blood makes as it flows through the heart. It's like the noise water makes when it flows through a hose. Heart murmurs are common in children and are usually harmless.

Mitral valve stenosis is a "quiet" condition—it often has no symptoms in its early stages and may not be diagnosed until you've had the disease for some time. If you are not having symptoms, such as shortness of breath or pounding of the heart, the first indication of mitral valve stenosis could be a suspicious ***heart murmur*** your doctor hears during a routine checkup

Murmur Grades
Grade Volume
1/6 very faint, only heard in ideal circumstances
2/6 loud enough to be generally heard
3/6 louder then grade 2
4/6 louder then grade 3
5/6 heard with stethoscope partially off chest
6/6 heard with stethoscope entirely off chest

Auscultation of the chest (listening to the heart with a stethoscope) often reveals a heart murmur. A murmur is an abnormal heart sound caused by turbulent blood flow. The loudness or tone of a murmur is not directly proportional to the seriousness of the underlying abnormality. Often very quiet murmurs are caused by very serious heart problems.Arrythmias, abnormal heartbeat sequences, such as gallop rhythms, may be detected.
