C'est une suggestion pour garder une expression imagée, mais elle ne fonctionne pas vraiment en français ; "s'auto-sabrer" ?
Il y aurait aussi "rendre son tablier", mais là on change vraiment d'image, donc ça ne convient pas non plus exactement.
