: All these Alibaba translations are highly suspect, I don't think it is 'déclencheur' to start with (that works for fire alarms!), and I can see no reason why it would be 'écossais de joug'.

I feel sure that if we are talking pnuematics, we must surely be referring to an 'actionneur' here.
As for the 'Scotch yoke', I have to say that the various translations I've found of this on the Internet seem to me totally wrong — broadly, there are two groups 'joug d'écossais' and 'écossais-attelle', both of which seem to me suspiciously like too-literal translations!
As I see it here, the 'yoke' is more of a 'fork' (see illustration provided by Asker), and it seems to me that the adjective Scotch qualifies yoke, and not the other way round.
However, there are zero Google hits for this, suggesting that either the term has never been carefully translated before — or my idea is completely wrong!
