Je comprends le sens de "shadow" dans cette phrase, mais j'ai du mal à trouver une solution qui me convienne. Des idées ?

seeing s.t. being a "faded" version of s.t. else as a calque for "shadow"? With some imagination, maybe. Or maybe the EN term is a calque of the FR term? One way or another that's definitely widely used in French, and in the right (for this ST) meaning.
