Swedish term

spännare (for securing loads/cargo)

Swedish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
From a description of a protective sheet for cargo on ships/trucks/etc.

"Duken spänns jämnt över hela lasten med fastsydda surrningsband och spännare."
[...]
"Vid lossning lossar man spännarna och drar duken till ändan."

Is it fair to say "spännare" is what we would call a ratchet (i.e., the item in this picture that is not the strap or hooks: https://c1.rt-static.com/images/products/keeper-1-ratchet-st...

I ask because, technically, it seems that other things besides a ratchet could be used to "spänna" a strap. But I don't know of a broader term than "ratchet" for this concept.

Thanks
