English term
Overshoot / Undershoot

Transport / Transportation / Shipping
Hola.
Overshoot and Undershoot happen when the train does not stop precisely where it’s supposed to stop at the platform, so that train doors are no longer aligned with platform doors.
- Overshoot is when the train goes too far. It will attempt to go back once (if within a certain limit), otherwise it will be a missed stop and the train will move on.
- Undershoot is when the train stops too early. It will move forward very slowly until train doors will be aligned with platform doors and passengers could safely get in/out. If it goes too far, it will be a missed stop and the train will move on.
