German term

Kleine Vorbereitung

German to English Other Food & Drink recipe
The term appears in one of the headings of a recipe. Is this somehow a fixed expression. I’ve never some across it before.

1) Zubereitung Kartoffeln
2) Kleine Vorbereitung
3) Anrichten
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Edith Kelly

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Machine translation? In any case, more context would be helpful.

mise-en-place

Mise en place (MEEZ ahn plahs) is a French term for having all your ingredients measured, cut, peeled, sliced, grated, etc. before you start cooking. Pans are prepared. Mixing bowls, tools and equipment set out. It is a technique chefs use to assemble meals so quickly and effortlessly.

neutral Andrew Bramhall : Not sure it's the right register here though;

agree philgoddard : Yes, well done. I was sure there was a term for it. And if the context is more informal, you could say "Before you get started". No hyphens, by the way.

Thanks- I would use hyphens if it appears, like here, in a header, but not if used as a verb
agree TonyTK : Nice work, Doc.

Little preparation (required)

1) Potato preparation
2) Little preparation (required)
3) Dressing

I think it means that only little/limited minor preparation is required;
Peer comment(s):

neutral Edith Kelly : I have never seen it put that way.

simple preparation

just google it.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : I don't think it's a comment on the recipe's simplicity. It's the things you do before you start combining ingredients.

Is this like your example? It sounds like it simply means "preparation".

When you say it "appears in" one of the headings, do you mean "is one of the headings"? If so, what does it say underneath?
Note from asker:
Things like cutting vegetables and heating the oven. In the end, I just went with preparation
