taxed fees/commissions
My guess is those are commissions taken by the bank on which VAT is then assessed (VAT indicated below the amount of the main fee)
Note from asker:
Hmm, this makes sense, but i have not seen many hits in either language in Google |
Sorry - taxed fees but not commissions appears, so this makes sense! |

COMPANY TAX
Or even "commercial" but I think it's company
Note from asker:
I did think of this, but was not sure, as TVA = VAT is in French |
Also this is the bank statement of a married couple not company - but thanks |

MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE
HSBC Hexagone is a package of banking products and services offered by HSBC France:
https://www.hsbc.fr/en-fr/banque-au-quotidien/produits/conve...
These are the fees for them.
See:
https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/monthly-ban...
"A ***monthly maintenance fee*** (sometimes called a monthly service fee) is money a bank charges you for working with the company. The fee is usually automatically withdrawn from your account each month."
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/pf/07/bank_fees.asp
"Monthly Fees — One of the most common and straightforward fees banks charge is a ***monthly account maintenance fee*** for your checking or savings account."

A good tip when translating bank statements is to ignore most of the jargon ("commission d'intervention" and the likes), as these are just ways of dressing up bank fees and charges.

20.28 EUR per month seems about right, see fees here (page down to "HSBC Hexagone : les tarifs"):

To Phil and SafeTex: "COM. TAX" could be "commission taxation", but it doesn't really matter: if the name of the banking offering/package is mentioned, and the item is a charge of 10 or 20 EUR, then it's monthly maintenance fees.
I mentioned "commission d'intervention" in my last note above:
C'est quoi *une commission d'intervention* ?
La *commission d'intervention*, ou frais de forçage , est facturée par la banque pour chaque opération entraînant une irrégularité de fonctionnement du compte bancaire : exécution d'un ordre de prélèvement, d'un paiement par carte ou par chèque…Dec 14, 2021

Needless to say such jargon is of no use to consumers.

Note from asker:
I would like reflect the original more closely. Your answer is helpful for context, but does not mention anything re. tax and the original doesn't mention a monthly fee (although it probably is). There is another item above "COTIS HSBC HEXAGONE" which would be the fee for the HSBC HEXAGONE package of services in general. Thanks for the contribution, but just not as expected! |

Discussion
I don't consider this "case closed" at all, but I use two banks in France that speak to me in plain language, so I don't expect to find a solution anytime soon.
Also 0.52 as a percentage of 20.28 is about 2.5%, whereas VAT in France is charged at 5% ("essential" items) and 20% ("luxury" items), and nothing else, as far as I'm aware.
Typically fussy and bureaucratic – a whole different line for this.
I would call it:
VAT – MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE
if it is to do with VAT.
It's frustrating that the answer chosen was derivative of mine and completely over-literal, to my mind, but there you go, "It is what it is", the absurd expression that tells you about the absurdity of all of this.
Also I've got a feeling that this is one of those residency applications, like below. I've done a few in my time. The actual details (apart from maybe balances) are fairly irrelevant.

Very unsatisfactory, in any case.
Bonjour! I have a bank account in the UK with HSBC, and so thought it would be a good idea to open a HSBC account in France for paying bills. I have just received my first bank account statement for the French HSBC account, and am staggered to find a monthly charge of 7.46E, despite there being no money in the account yet and no direct debits or standing orders set up, I only have a visa debit card and cheque book. (I am now overdrawn by 7.46E!). The charge on the statement is "COTIS CONV.DYNAMIQUE ZPM6 71682, 06/05/2009 AU 05/06/2009, COM. TAX. EUR 7.46". Is this compulsory or something that can be adjusted or even removed? Thanks in advance,Fred.
from another example from 2016
the amount match with this:
(montant en TTC)
With your context from 2022:
(20.28+0.52)
