Je trouve que 'ébouriffé' ne rend pas bien la notion de légèreté qu'évoque 'thistle-down'. Et pourquoi pas garder la même métaphore, du genre "...cheveux argentés et aussi fins qu'un duvet de chardon se regardait..."?

je crois que ce “down”-ci est un sysnonyme de duvet et non l’adverbe …
