J'ai donc tendance à penser qu'il est opportun de de spécifier qu'il s'agit de refroidissement induit/provoqué par la sublimation.

Ghits I couldn't agree more!

A few years ago, I answered a question with a technical term that I knew from years of specialist professional experience was totally correct --- but scored 0 Ghits! The poor Asker, blinded by a small number of Ghits for a completely off-the-wall technically incorrect answer, chose that for their translation. Poor customer!

Often, with small numbers of Ghits, one needs to be careful, as these days there is a lot of 'noise' out there: in particular, directory sites that in fact simply use your search term to say "Find numerous manufactureres of XYZ", and also, very often, an original mis-spelling or mis-translation that has been propagated around the world by other sites; this happens a lot, for example, where an equipment manufacturer starts off with a poor translation, and then it gets copied on the sites of all their distributors etc.

Despite the delightfully serendipidous nature of the content avialable on the Internet, there are whole swaths of texts that haven't got there (yet!) --- there is a kind of gap between, for example, technology that is not current enough to be still interesting, but not yet old enough to have historical interest.

So what does it prove?
First thing to notice: all 8 ghits relate to this term being used by reliable sources in the right context.
In a narrowly specialized field filled with traded secrets, don't expect to find on the web a plethora of information served on a plate.
Google can only search publicly available websites, not the hugely predominant part of the web available only to members - and most highly specialized sites are subscription-only. And even on the public web, not all sites or all part of a site are available to search engines (see robot.txt).
In some fields you'll find ZERO ghits for some very specialized term that ARE in use. Tough luck, you'll have to know the subject area, there is a limit to the extent of help you can extract from the Web.
If you know the subject area inside out, at a stretch you might be justified in feeling confident enough to start "clarifying/simplifying/improving" a text in some very specialized area.
But deciding purely on basis of ghits that one half of a technical term used by an author (presumably an expert in the area?) is surplus to requirement simply doesn't hold water.
