The plot below gives a rough analogue of a market price based on the running difference of the total numbers of black and white cells at successive steps. One can see that the plot is in many aspects random and shares some properties with actual financial time series. When using conventional financial models we have a difficult time producing behaviors like this because they are based on rational information and include little or no inter-trader information.
