If it ist just to name a pet, it should be MIEL, honey made by bees. Cariño, cielo or others are tender ways of calling your boy/girlfriend, like "darling", for example.

Agregando el contexto que indicas, aquí en México es común llamar \"canela\" a un perro o gato con pelo color \"miel\". Es difícil encontrar un equivalente a nombres de mascotas.
