I don't think it is an escalator - see the links with pictures I provided for both Dutch and English - my aunt has one of these stairlifts ;-)

This is a possible term in English. "Stairlift" means a lift to help disabled people get up and down the stairs (normally in their home), and looks a bit like a funicular railway.
