Let me answer this by illustrating some behavior that did NOT get one airline captain fired. If he didn’t qualify for firing, then I don’t know what it would take.
LANDING GEAR AT CRUISE ALTITUDE: The man began earning a reputation while still a First Officer, as his Boeing 727 was calmly flying at full speed at 35,000 feet, with a full meal service going on in back (long time ago, obviously.)
He quietly, and with no warning, reached up and dropped the landing gear.
This vastly exceeded the speed limits on the gear and gear doors. And the sudden deceleration made a mess of the meal service in back. You can imagine it also terrified the passengers.
When asked why, he said, “I was just sitting there wondering what would happen if I did it.” The airline grounded him, with intention to fire him, but ALPA intervened and got him reinstated. He soon made captain.
THE UFO INCIDENT: A few years into being a captain, while hand-flying a 727 on climb-out, he suddenly threw the thing over about 120 degrees of bank and pulled hard. Then did a series of fighter pilot evasive maneuvers. Boeings can be flown like that!
You can imagine the horror this caused in the cabin. Flight attendants were hurt, passengers peed themselves.
He claimed a flying saucer came straight at them and if he hadn’t made those maneuvers, they’d have crashed into it. The airline grounded him immediately, but ALPA again rescued him, this time after a series of psychological tests. And he thought himself a hero who should be exalted for his bravery and skills in saving those lives.
THE SAM MISSILE INCIDENT: A few years later, with another 727 full of passengers and flight attendants walking the aisles, he was flying north over Sandy Point, New Jersey, at about 10,000 feet, descending into La Guardia. He saw a SAM missile launch from the tip of Sandy Point.
He had experience evading SAMs while flying fighters in Vietnam (with a refresher course in a 727 during the UFO save), and so he did it again. Flight attendants walking the aisles were hurt, passengers peed themselves.
Despite his background, in an abundance of caution, the government really had no choice but to conduct a thorough investigation into it because, well, what if it really happened? They couldn’t risk letting someone shoot down an airliner.
Radar tapes were pulled, the FBI and who knows what else got involved. The Sandy Point, New Jersey area was thoroughly investigated. You’re not surprised, I imagine, that no evidence was found. He’d been grounded since the day he did it, but as usual, ALPA got him reinstated.
He was now convinced he was the greatest airline pilot of all time, surely in line for something like the Collier Trophy. He didn’t get a trophy, but he got a lot of candy bars.
CAPTAIN ZERO: The guy’s last name began with the letter “Z.” Whatever it was, I can’t recall because he soon was known as Captain Zero because some genius pilot at our base had the brilliant idea to buy ZERO candy bars by the boxful and every day he was there, a bar was placed in Captain Zero’s mail cubby hole, standing on edge at the front for the whole room to see. It went on for years and he never found out who did it, but we loved it and his name stuck.
THE WHITE HOUSE: We were based at DCA, Washington National. When we lined up for take-off on Runway 36, we were pointed almost directly at The White House. Departure procedures, of course, call for an immediate left turn to fly northwest up the Potomac River. But for the first mile or so, you and your fast-moving jet are pointed directly at The White House.
One day, awaiting takeoff clearance at the south end of Runway 36, Captain Zero very casually stated that he wondered what it would be like if after takeoff they just flew straight ahead and dove into The White House. Then, just as casually, he took off and made a normal climb. The other two pilots were, well, I don’t know, but I can say that horrified was a monstrous understatement.
This was the guy who one day wondered what it would be like if he lowered the landing gear at cruise speed, which he did, just to find out. Reminds me of Johnny Cash in Folsum Prison Blues, “I shot a man just to watch him die.”
He was turned in, but this was long before 9/11 and no one could imagine anyone would really crash a jet into a building. And thus, you won’t be surprised that after some interrogation, he was allowed to continue to fly.
But the rest of us at his base were horrified, especially since they let him stay based at DCA where he’d make that takeoff several times each week. ALPA wouldn’t protect us from ZERO, so some guys made a plan of their own.
THE COCKPIT CRASH AX: The 727 had three pilots, the third one being a Second Officer (SO) sitting sideways behind the First Officer. Near the SO’s right hand was a fire crash ax attached to the wall.
One day I sat in on a conversation about Captain Zero in the pilot lounge at DCA and it turned out that when taking off on Runway 36, just about every SO stealthfully slipped the fire ax off the wall, and placed it in their desk, positioned so they could open the lid, grab it, and with one smooth move plant it into his right temple, if he pushed the jet down after takeoff. They assumed that the FO would then save them, but none of us knew they were doing it. We agreed that was a smart idea and we would, indeed, be ready.
I then asked which edge of the ax they would use: the flat, hatchet edge, or the pointy side? I meant it in jest, to lighten the sullen mood, but in unison they all said, “pointy end!” I realized they’d thought it through and all were serious.
Fortunately this airline soon went bankrupt and we all dispersed and the world was safe from Captain Zero.
WHAT IT WOULD TAKE: To close with your question of what are common reasons airline pilots are fired? Well, I never heard of a captain being fired at my airline, so there were never any common reasons. And these very uncommon reasons weren’t enough. So I don’t know what it would take.

Source text - English The eighteenth century painter Boucher gave us this picture of a lady using a bourdaloue. Note, as others have said, the absence of knickers or drawers. It is designed to be held up under the skirts rather than squatted over. These tended to be oval rather than round, like a chamber pot, and some of them had indented sides to sit snugly between the thighs.
As others have said the ladies at an event would go to a specially set aside retiring room where a number of pots were available together with maids to assist. There was no privacy as this was not really an issue at the time for this function. Poorer people would go in front of each other all the time at home as there were no separate water closets for all until comparatively recently. Men at a ball or dinner would just go into the garden.
A few years ago the National Trust in Britain organised a completely authentic eighteenth century period dinner in one of their stately homes, with all participants wearing period dress and eating period food under candlelight. They looked into the sanitary arrangements from the time and decided to pass on complete authenticity!

Source text - English Amarna is the modern Arabic name for the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Akhetaten, capital of the country under the reign of Akhenaten (1353-1336 BCE). The site is officially known as Tell el-Amarna, so-named for the Beni Amran tribe who were living in the area when it was discovered.
A 'tell' in archaeology is a mound created by the remains of successive human habitation of an area over a given number of years. As each new generation builds on the ruins of the previous one, their buildings rise in elevation to create an artificial hill. Amarna differs from the usual 'tell' in that it did not fall to a foreign power or earthquake and was never built over in antiquity; it was instead destroyed by order of the pharaoh Horemheb (c. 1320-1292 BCE) who sought to erase Akhenaten's name and accomplishments from history; afterwards its ruins lay in the plain by the Nile River for centuries and gradually was built on by others who lived nearby.
When he came to power, Akhenaten was a powerful king entrusted – as all kings were – with the maintenance of ma'at (harmony and balance) in the land. Ma'at was the central value of the culture which allowed all aspects of life to function harmoniously as they should. It came into being at the beginning of creation and so, naturally, a king's observance and maintenance of ma'at relied heavily on the proper veneration of the gods through traditional rites and rituals.
AKHENATEN'S ONE TRUE GOD WAS LIGHT, THE LIGHT OF THE SUN, WHICH SUSTAINED ALL LIFE.
Although Akhenaten initially kept to this practice, in around the fifth year of his reign (c. 1348 BCE) he abolished the ancient Egyptian religion, closed the temples, and imposed his own monotheistic vision on the people. This innovation, though hailed by monotheists for the last hundred years, crippled the Egyptian economy (which relied heavily on the temples), distracted the king from foreign affairs, stagnated the military, and resulted in Egypt's significant loss of status among neighboring lands.
It is for these reasons that Akhenaten's son and successor, Tutankhamun (c. 1336-1327 BCE), returned Egypt to traditional religious practices and rejected the monotheism of his father. He did not live long enough to complete the restoration of Egypt, however, and so this was accomplished by Horemheb. This era in Egypt's history is known as the Amarna Period and is usually dated from Akhenaten's reforms to Horemheb's reign: c. 1348 - c. 1320 BCE.
The City of the God
The god Akhenaten chose to replace all the others was not his own creation. Aten was a minor solar deity who personified the light of the sun. Egyptologist David P. Silverman points out how all Akhenaten did was elevate this god to the level of a supreme being and attribute to him the qualities once associated with Amun but without any of that god's personal characteristics. Silverman writes:
Unlike traditional deities, this god could not be depicted: the symbol of the sun disc with rays, dominating Amarna art, is nothing more than a large-scale version of the hieroglyph for 'light'. (128)
Akhenaten's one true god was light, the light of the sun, which sustained all life. Unlike the other gods, Aten was above human concerns and possessed no human weaknesses. As Akhenaten expresses in his Great Hymn to the Aten, his god could not be jealous or depressed or angry or act on impulse; he simply existed and, by that existence, caused all else to exist. A god this powerful and awe-inspiring could not be worshiped at any other god's repurposed temple nor even in any city which had known the worship of other deities; he required a new city built solely for his honor and adoration.

This city was Akhetaten, built midway between the traditional capitals of Memphis in the north and Thebes in the south. Boundary steles were erected at intervals around its perimeter which told the story of its founding. On one, Akhenaten records the nature of the site he chose:
Behold, it is Pharaoh, who found it – not being the property of a god, not being the property of a goddess, not being the property of a male ruler, not being the property of a female ruler, and not being the property of any people. (Snape, 155)
Other stelae and inscriptions make clear that the foundation of the city was entirely Akhenaten's initiative as an individual, not as a king of Egypt. A pharaoh of the New Kingdom of Egypt (c. 1570 - c. 1069 BCE) would issue a commission for the building of a city or temple or erection of obelisks or monuments in his royal name and for the glory of his particular god, but these projects were to benefit the nation collectively, not just the king. Akhenaten's city was built for the sole purpose of providing him with an elaborate sacred precinct for his god.
Design & Layout
Akhetaten was laid out over six miles on the east bank of the Nile between the shore and the cliffs above Assiut. Some boundary stelae were carved directly into the cliffs with others free-standing on the far side of the city. The four main districts were the North City, Central City, Southern Suburbs, and Outskirts; none of these names were used to designate the locales in antiquity.
The North City was constructed around the Northern Palace where guests were received and Aten was worshiped. The royal family lived in apartments to the rear of the palace and the most opulent rooms, painted with outdoor scenes depicting the fertility of the Delta region, were dedicated to Aten who was thought to inhabit them. The palace had no roof – a common feature of the buildings at Akhetaten – as a gesture of welcome to Aten.

The Central City was designed around the Great Temple of Aten and the Small Temple of Aten. This was the bureaucratic center of the city where the administrators worked and lived. The Southern Suburbs was the residential district for the wealthy elite and featured large estates and monuments. The Outskirts were inhabited by the peasant farmers who worked the fields and on the tombs of the necropolis.
Akhenaten himself designed the city for his god, as his boundary stelae make clear, and refused suggestions or advice from anyone else, even his wife Nefertiti (c. 1370 - c. 1336 BCE). Precisely what kind of suggestions she may have made is unknown, but the fact that Akhenaten makes a point of stating that he did not listen to her advice would seem to indicate they were significant. Egyptologist Steven Snape comments:
It is obvious that the 'prospectus' for the new city carved on the boundary stelae is deeply concerned with describing the provision that will be made for the king, his immediate family, the god Aten, and those religious officials who were to be involved with the cult of the Aten. It is equally obvious that it utterly ignores the needs of the vast majority of the population of Amarna, people who would have been moved (possibly unwillingly) from their homes to inhabit the new city. (158)
Once Akhenaten moved his capital to Akhetaten, he focused his attention on the adoration of Aten and increasingly ignored affairs of state as well as the condition of the country outside of the city which was slipping into decline.
Akhenaten's Reign & Amarna Letters
The Amarna Letters are cuneiform tablets discovered at Akhetaten in 1887 CE by a local woman who was digging for fertilizer. They are the correspondence found between the kings of Egypt and those of foreign nations as well as official documents from the period. The majority of these letters demonstrate that Akhenaten was an able administrator when a situation interested him personally but also that as his reign progressed he cared less and less for the responsibilities of a monarch.
In one letter, he strongly rebukes the foreign ruler Abdiashirta for his actions against another, Ribaddi (who was killed), and for his friendship with the Hittites who were then Egypt's enemy. This no doubt had more to do with his desire to keep friendly the buffer states between Egypt and the Land of the Hatti - Canaan and Syria, for example, which were under Abdiashirta's influence - than any sense of justice for the death of Ribaddi and the taking of Byblos.

There is no doubt that his attention to this problem served the interests of the state but, as other similar issues were ignored, it seems that he only chose to address issues which affected him personally. Akhenaten had Abdiashirta brought to Egypt and imprisoned for a year until Hittite advances in the north compelled his release but there seems a marked difference between his letters dealing with this situation and other king's correspondence on similar matters.
While there are examples like this one of Akhenaten looking after state affairs, there are more which provide evidence of his disregard for anything other than his religious reforms and life in the palace. It should be noted, however, that this is a point often – and hotly - debated among scholars in the modern day, as is the whole of the so-called Amarna Period of Akhenaten's rule. Regarding this, Dr. Zahi Hawass writes:
More has been written on this period in Egyptian history than any other and scholars have been known to come to blows, or at least to major episodes of impoliteness, over their conflicting opinions. (35)
The preponderance of the evidence, both from the Amarna letters and from Tutankhamun's later decree, as well as archaeological indications, strongly suggests that Akhenaten was a very poor ruler as far as his subjects and vassal states were concerned and his reign, in the words of Hawass, was "an inward-focused regime that had lost interest in its foreign policy" (45).
Akhenaten saw himself and his wife not just as servants of the gods but the incarnation of the light of Aten. The art of the period depicts the royal family as strangely elongated and narrow and, while this has been interpreted by some as "realism" it is far more likely symbolism. To Akhenaten, the god Aten was unlike any other – invisible, all-powerful, omniscient, and transformative – and the art from the period would seem to reflect this belief in the curiously tall and thin figures depicted: they have been transformed by the touch of Aten.
Destruction of the City
The city flourished until Akhenaten's death; afterwards, Tutankhamun moved the capital back to Memphis and then to Thebes. Tutankhamun initiated the measures to reverse his father's policies and return Egypt to the former beliefs and practices which had maintained the culture and helped it develop for almost 2,000 years. Temples were reopened, and the businesses which depended upon them were renewed.
Tutankhamun died before he could finish these reforms, and they were carried on by his successor, the former vizier Ay, and then by Horemheb. Horemheb had been a general under Akhenaten and served him faithfully but disagreed vehemently with his religious reforms. When Horemheb came to the throne, Akhetaten was still standing (as evidenced by a shrine to him built there at this time) but it would not remain intact for long. He ordered the city razed and its remains dumped as fill for his own projects.

Horemheb was so dedicated to erasing the name and accomplishments of Akhenaten that he does not appear in any of Egypt's later historical records. Where he had to be cited it is only as "the heretic of Akhetaten" but never named and no reference made to his position as pharaoh.
Discovery & Preservation
The ruins of the city were first mapped and drawn in the 18th century CE by the French priest Claude Sicard. Other Europeans visited the site afterwards, and interest in the area was piqued after the discovery of the Amarna Letters. It was further explored and mapped in the late 19th century CE by Napoleon's corps of engineers during his Egyptian campaign, and this work attracted the attention of other archaeologists once the Rosetta Stone was deciphered and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics could be read in c. 1824 CE. Akhenaten's name was therefore known but not his significance. It was not until archeologists in the early 20th century CE found the ruins Horemheb had dumped as fill that the story of Akhenaten was finally put together.
In the present day, the site is a wide, barren, expanse of ruined foundations which is being preserved and excavated by The Amarna Project. Unlike the ruins of Thebes or the village of Deir el-Medina, there is little left of Akhetaten for a visitor to admire. Egyptologist Steven Snape comments, "apart from the modest reconstructions of parts of the city by modern archaeologists, there is virtually nothing to be seen of the city of Amarna" (154). This is not unusual as the cities of Memphis and Per-Ramesses, both also capitals of ancient Egypt – as well as many others – are largely vacant lots today with far fewer monuments than those extant at Amarna.
What makes Amarna a special case in this regard is that the city was not leveled by time nor by an invading army but by the successor of the king who built it. At no other time in Egypt's ancient history was a city destroyed by a king's successor to blot out his name. To remove one's name from a temple or monument or tomb was to condemn them for eternity, but in this instance, only the removal of an entire city would satisfy Horemheb's sense of justice.
The Egyptians believed one had to be remembered by the living in order to continue one's eternal journey in the afterlife. In Akhenaten's case, it was not just a tomb or temple which was defaced but the totality of his life and reign. All of his monuments, in every city across Egypt, were torn down and every inscription bearing his name or that of his god was edited with chisels. Akhenaten's heresy was considered so serious, and the damage done to the country so severe, that he was thought to have earned the worst punishment that could be meted out in ancient Egypt: non-existence.

Esta ciudad era Aketatón, construida a medio camino entre las capitales tradicionales de Menfis en el norte y Tebas en el sur. Se erigieron estelas fronterizas a intervalos alrededor de su perímetro que contaban la historia de su fundación. En una, Akenatón registra la naturaleza del sitio que eligió:
Contemplad, es el Faraón, quien lo encontró, no siendo propiedad de un dios, no siendo propiedad de una diosa, no siendo propiedad de un gobernante masculino, no siendo propiedad de una gobernante femenina, y no siendo propiedad de ninguna persona. (Snape, 155)
Otras estelas e inscripciones dejan claro que la fundación de la ciudad fue enteramente iniciativa de Akenatón como individuo, no como rey de Egipto. Un faraón del Nuevo Reino de Egipto (c. 1570 - c. 1069 a. C.) emitiría una comisión para la construcción de una ciudad o templo o la erección de obeliscos o monumentos en su nombre real y para la gloria de su dios particular, pero estos proyectos debían beneficiar a la nación colectivamente, no solo al rey. La ciudad de Akenatón fue construida con el único propósito de proporcionarle un elaborado recinto sagrado para su dios.
Diseño y trazado
Aketatón se extendía por nueve kilómetros y medio a lo largo de la orilla este del Nilo, entre la costa y los acantilados sobre Assiut. La Ciudad Central fue diseñada alrededor del Gran Templo de Atón y el Pequeño Templo de Atón. Este era el centro burocrático de la ciudad donde trabajaban y vivían los administradores. Los suburbios del sur eran el distrito residencial de la élite adinerada y presentaban grandes propiedades y monumentos. La periferia estaba habitada por los campesinos que trabajaban los campos y en las tumbas de la necrópolis.
El propio Akenatón diseñó la ciudad para su dios, como lo dejan claro sus estelas limítrofes, y rechazó las sugerencias o consejos de cualquier otra persona, incluso de su esposa Nefertiti (c. 1370 - c. 1336 a. C.). Se desconoce exactamente qué tipo de sugerencias pudo hecho, pero el hecho de que Akenatón insista en afirmar que no escuchó sus consejos parecería indicar que eran significativos. Una vez que Akenatón trasladó su capital a Aketatón, centró su atención en la adoración de Atón e ignoró cada vez más los asuntos de estado, así como la condición del país fuera de la ciudad, que estaba cayendo en declive.
El reinado de Akenatón y las cartas de Amarna
Las Cartas de Amarna son tablillas cuneiformes descubiertas en Aketatón en 1887 d. C. por una mujer local que estaba excavando en busca de fertilizante. Son la correspondencia cruzada entre los reyes de Egipto y de naciones extranjeras, así como documentos oficiales de la época. La mayoría de estas cartas demuestran que Akenatón era un administrador capaz cuando una situación le interesaba personalmente, pero también que a medida que avanzaba su reinado se preocupaba cada vez menos por las responsabilidades de un monarca.
En una carta, reprende enérgicamente al gobernante extranjero Abdiashirta por sus acciones contra otro, Ribaddi (que fue asesinado), y por su amistad con los hititas, que entonces eran enemigos de Egipto. Sin duda, esto tenía más que ver con su deseo de mantener la amistad con los estados tapón entre Egipto y la tierra de los Hatti (Canaán y Siria, por ejemplo, que estaban bajo la influencia de Abdiashirta) que cualquier sentido de justicia por la muerte de Ribaddi y la toma de Biblos.

No hay duda de que su atención a este problema sirvió a los intereses del Estado pero, como se ignoraron otros temas similares, parece que solo optaba por abordar los temas que lo afectaban personalmente. Akenatón hizo traer a Abdiashirta a Egipto y lo encarceló durante un año hasta que los avances hititas en el norte obligaron a su liberación, pero parece haber una marcada diferencia entre sus cartas que tratan sobre esta situación y la correspondencia de otros reyes sobre asuntos similares.
Si bien hay ejemplos como este en el que Akenatón se ocupa de los asuntos estatales, hay muchos otros que proporcionan evidencia de su desprecio por cualquier otra cosa que no sean sus reformas religiosas y la vida en el palacio. La preponderancia de la evidencia, tanto de las cartas de Amarna como del decreto posterior de Tutankamón, así como las indicaciones arqueológicas, sugieren fuertemente que Akenatón fue un gobernante muy pobre en lo que respecta a sus súbditos y estados vasallos y su reinado, en palabras de Hawass, era "un régimen centrado en el interior que había perdido interés en su política exterior" (45).
Akenatón se veía a sí mismo y a su esposa no solo como sirvientes de los dioses sino como la encarnación de la luz de Atón. El arte de la época representa a la familia real como extrañamente alargada y angosta y aunque algunos lo han interpretado como "realismo", es mucho más probable que sea un simbolismo. Para Akenatón, el dios Atón no se parecía a ningún otro: invisible, todopoderoso, omnisciente y transformador, y el arte de la época parece reflejar esta creencia en las figuras curiosamente altas y delgadas representadas: han sido transformadas por el toque de Atón.
Destrucción de la ciudad
La ciudad floreció hasta la muerte de Akenatón; luego, Tutankamón trasladó la capital a Menfis y después a Tebas. Tutankamón inició las medidas para revertir las políticas de su padre y devolver a Egipto a las antiguas creencias y prácticas que habían mantenido la cultura y la ayudaron a desarrollarse durante casi 2000 años. Se reabrieron los templos y se renovaron los negocios que dependían de ellos.
Tutankamón murió antes de que pudiera terminar estas reformas, y fueron llevadas a cabo por su sucesor, el antiguo visir Ay, y luego por Horemheb. Horemheb había sido general bajo Akenatón y lo sirvió fielmente, pero estuvo en vehemente desacuerdo con sus reformas religiosas. Cuando Horemheb subió al trono, Aketatón todavía estaba en pie (como lo demuestra un santuario construido allí para él en ese momento) pero no permanecería intacta por mucho tiempo. Horemheb ordenó arrasar la ciudad y arrojar sus restos como relleno para sus propios proyectos.

Horemheb estaba tan dedicado a borrar el nombre y los logros de Akenatón que éste no aparece en ninguno de los registros históricos posteriores de Egipto. Donde había que citarlo se lo hacía solo como "el hereje de Aketatén", pero nunca era nombrado ni se hacía referencia a su posición como faraón.
Descubrimiento y preservación
Las ruinas de la ciudad fueron mapeadas y dibujadas por primera vez en el siglo XVIII por el sacerdote francés Claude Sicard. Otros europeos visitaron el sitio después, y el interés en el área se despertó después del descubrimiento de las Cartas de Amarna. Fue explorado y cartografiado más a fondo a fines del siglo XIX por el cuerpo de ingenieros de Napoleón durante su campaña en Egipto, y este trabajo atrajo la atención de otros arqueólogos una vez que se descifró la piedra de Rosetta y se pudieron leer los jeroglíficos egipcios antiguos alrededor de 1824 d. Lo que hace de Amarna un caso especial en este sentido es que la ciudad no fue arrasada por el tiempo ni por un ejército invasor sino por el sucesor del rey que la construyó. En ningún otro momento de la historia antigua de Egipto una ciudad fue destruida por el sucesor de un rey para borrar su nombre. Eliminar el nombre de alguien de un templo, monumento o tumba era condenarlo para la eternidad, pero en este caso, solo la eliminación de una ciudad entera satisfaría el sentido de justicia de Horemheb.
Los egipcios creían que uno tenía que ser recordado por los vivos para continuar su viaje eterno en el más allá. En el caso de Akenatón, no fue solo una tumba o un templo lo que fue destrozado, sino la totalidad de su vida y reinado. Todos sus monumentos, en todas las ciudades de Egipto, fueron derribados y cada inscripción que llevaba su nombre o el de su dios fue editada con cinceles. La herejía de Akenatón se consideró tan grave, y el daño causado al país tan severo, que se pensó que se había ganado el peor castigo que se podía imponer en el antiguo Egipto: la inexistencia.

I was born in UK form Venezuelan parents while my father was studying a Phd in London. Then, wheh I was a toddler, we moved back to Venezuela. I have lived in Latin America all my life, so Spanish is my mother tongue. I went to a bilingual school, and learned english very early in my life. I always felt that if I was a British Citizen, I had to speak the language, so I made my best effort to take extra English lessons and to read in English as much as I could. Then in my teenage years I met who was going to be my husband, an Italian boy who just got to the country and who spoke no sanish at all. At his wouse, everybody spoke only Italian, so I got the language almost without effort, form listening ti heir conversations. Being a keen reader, I began to read in italian, and very quicky I became comfortable in italian too. Later in my life, I attended the British Council, completing all the course levels in english, and for italian, took private lessons and then the CELI B2 examination.
I studied art history and analisys in the Univerity, focusing on the cinematographic language, and developed a cereer in television.
