Last week, the EDQM launched a new version of its Standard Terms database. It used to cost €70 to access it, but now it's free of charge. This is great news for new medical translators and others who have been translating EU product information (Summary of Product Characteristics, etc.) without using this resource. Users of the old Standard Terms need to request a new password too. I've just written a blog post about the whole process - which is surprisingly c... This is great news for new medical translators and others who have been translating EU product information (Summary of Product Characteristics, etc.) without using this resource. Users of the old Standard Terms need to request a new password too. I've just written a blog post about the whole process - which is surprisingly complex - with some screenshots of the new database: http://signsandsymptomsoftranslation.com/2014/12/01/new-edqm/ If you want to jump straight in, here's the link to create an EDQM account: https://www.edqm.eu/register/ ▲ Collapse

Dear Emma, thanks for sharing. This is great news! Would you also know if there is a way of accessing MedDRA terms other than by applying for a fee-based subscription? Even joining a group subscription with shared costs would be great. http://www.meddra.org/ Thanks so much in advance for any information! With warm regards, Eveline

Yes, you can get free access to MedDRA through the EUTCT (European Union Telematics Controlled Terms): http://eutct.ema.europa.eu/eutct/ - Log on as a guest user - Go to page 2 of the list of resources and click on "Medical Dictionary For Regulatory Activities (MedDRA)" - Click on "Advanced search" for a multilingual search - Enjoy!

Hi Emma, sorry for the late reply but just wanted to check with you - is the access to MedDRA still there? I've followed your instructions and the MedDRA option doesn't seem to be there anymore on the webpage Just wanted to check just in case I was doing something wrong - does it still work for you?

Hi Emily, The SPOR platform has replaced the old EUTCT system. SPOR (Substance, Product, Organisations and Referentials Management Service) is a new centralised system for data management. The Referentials Management Service houses several resources, one of which is MedDRA. https://spor.ema.europa.eu/rmswi/#/ To access MedDRA through SPOR, go to: Refere...
