English term

too tight

English to French Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Superdude said the Supercar was “just a little too tight.”

During the first practice, Superhiddename said the car was “really tight in the middle.”

In an interview of a Nascar driver about his car and chances of winning.

I am not very familiar with such Nascar, racing or simply automobile lingo. Any suggestion of what this is about is welcomed.

Thank you all.

un peu juste / un peu limite

My understanding would be that we speak about the capacities or performances of the car from a technical viewpoint.
It is too tight: e.g. it is not powerfull, fast etc. enough to win the race.

Really tight in the middle: in the middle of the race/lap, its performances proved to be really poor.

"Un peu juste" can be used e.g. when a shirt is a bit too small, when grades are a bit too weak to pass an exam...
"Un peu limite" is almost spoken language (limite here stands for "*à la* limite"), Lany I do not know if this would fit in your text.

sous-vire

agree FX Fraipont (X) : Understeer, or 'tight'. If a car is too 'tight' for NASCAR drivers, it means that it's having trouble going round corners.http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12992_3150825,00.html
